Bro. Benjamin "Ben" Williams grew up in Harlem, New York. He joined the police force as a young man and settled down in the Bronx. Bro. Williams never forgot his roots in Harlem and joined Bethel Baptist Church. He became a deacon in the church and immediately became the youth director. He still wanted to do more for the church, the youth and the community. He got together with his longtime friend, Rev. Carl Callender, and formed Ministry In Action (M.I.A.) in 1995. MIA is a basketball league that preaches about God and allows the youth that are involved in any church to play basketball in all of the boroughs in New York City. Bro. Williams is still acting commissioner of the league. Bro. Williams and Rev. Callender invited Gladiator Sports (the first non church league team) to enter the league in 2000 so they could expand the league and open doors for other organizations. The Gladiators never forgot that invite and have played in the league every year. Gladiator Sports welcomes Bro. Benjamin Williams to the Hall Of Fame. |
