Howard Marcus
Program Director

It seems as though Howard has always been at Kennedy Center in Harlem. He attended pre-school in 1960. He attended the Kennedy Center after school and night program as a youth. It was at Kennedy Center where he learned and mastered the game of basketball. He became a certified referee at the young age of 18. It was at that time that Kennedy Center hired him to coach and teach basketball.

In 1993, several parents persuaded him to open the doors of the gym on Saturday morning to help their kids developed and improve their game. Howard put together a staff of voluteers with an equal love of teaching the game of basketball. In the first year, this program had only 12 children. By the time Howard resigned him position as Saturday Program Director in 1998, the program had grew to over 80 children. This program was now an established institution in the Harlem community.

In 1998, Howard moved to Damien, GA to pursue other interests. The program he started continued to grow and open the doors for programs such as Gladiator Sports. Howard still resides in Damien, GA where he continues to coach and teach at a local church league. He is also in charge of a mentor program as well. Howard states, "I hope that I have influenced some young people's lives over the years in a positive way". We at Gladiator Sports thank you for teaching us, coaching us and just showing us the way. Without you, there would never be a Gladiator Sports.
